Studio 131 is owned and directed by Michael Wright and Joseph Palmieri. Both partners are involved in the design and management of all projects that go through the studio, from small business start-ups to national company re-brandings.

Joe’s passion is in idea exploration, implementation and communication. Joe is a strong advocate of a thorough design process being applied to all design projects, large or small.

Outside the studio Joe lectures in the Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) at RMIT and is also the Course Coordinator of Introduction to Graphic Design, which takes non-design students through the design process ranging from brainstorming and idea development, through to digital artwork and printing processes.

Joe spent time at Lippincott, a brand strategy and design agency in New York City. He gained extensive knowledge during this time working with clients such as Samsung, McDonald’s and Nissan.

Michael is heavily involved in project strategy and idea evaluation. His strengths lie in lateral thinking and problem solving.

Spending a lot of time with clients in the brainstorming stages of the design process, he helps articulate client messages and tailors unique processes to best communicate them.

Outside the studio Michael established the Introduction to Graphic Design course at RMIT, provides guest lecturing and works with local Melbourne businesses with marketing strategies.

In the past 18 years we are proud to say that we have built long term relationships with our clients through a focus on education, and close working relationships.
